PLANNING FOR 2022
Author: Michelle Fitzsimons
REACTIVE TO PROACTIVE & OTHER GREAT INTENTIONS

I could wax lyrical for a while on the impact of the pandemic but I’m not going to because my intention for 2022 both personally and professionally is:
- Be proactive not reactive
- Take the emotion out of decision making
- Work on projects that energise us
- Have fun
Reflecting on the turmoil, uncertainty and pressure of the last 2 years will achieve none of the above. Last year we had a record breaking year, which was incredible. This year we would like to do it all again but this time without leaving ourselves quite so frazzled. We are ready to take on 2022, with the intention of seizing the year as opposed to the year seizing us! We plan to make even more of a positive difference for our clients and get back to being proactive, having fun and doing what we love. I’m pleased to say we are already reaping the rewards of this approach in the office and with clients. There is more focus, clarity and as a result a calmness that has been missing for some time. I can confirm, however, bring your dog to work day may have caused more chaos than calmness. Note to self, must remember to close all the doors!
HOW ARE WE GOING TO DO IT?
EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY
As with everything in life, it will of course require a lot of hard work and discipline. Hard work is something we’re good at, discipline however doesn’t come quite so naturally. Our methods are tried and tested and they’re most certainly not rocket science. So allow me to share, in case any of you would like to join us in taking charge of the year.
PLANNING
We’ve made a plan of what we want to achieve this year and where we would like to be by the end of it both professionally and personally. We’ve broken it down as to what we needs to be done each week and month to deliver on those key objectives. Remember, regular progress updates and perhaps most importantly accountability are essential if your plan is to become a reality.
WEAK SPOTS
The joy of what we do means we are highly self aware and know exactly what our weaknesses are. The key to fulfilling any goal is to know where you risk tripping yourself up and putting steps in place to minimise the risk. So, that’s exactly what we’ve done.
CELEBRATE
As human beings we are often critical of ourselves. Quick to berate ourselves for the things we didn’t do. Instead of doing that we are going to celebrate what we do. We will celebrate the small wins because when added together we will reach our longer term goals. This also means we have some nice things to look forward to along the way
as we start achieving certain objectives. So, if you find our out of office on midweek, you may well find us at the spa.
RELAX & RECHARGE
This is a really big one for us. We epitomise the term “sandwich generation” We know only too well the importance of self care and doing what ever it is that recharges your batteries. We certainly preach about it enough. But we’ve
been guilty of not taking our own medicine. Well, not anymore. In fact it’s even making it onto the to do list.
DO WHAT WE LOVE
We are blessed, we love what we do and we love the people we work with. But sometimes we are all guilty of taking on projects we know we won’t enjoy or perhaps serve us no purpose. Well, not any more. We are staying true to what we love, what we are good at and what energises us. We know only too well when you operate within your strengths it gives you energy!
WHAT IS IT WE LOVE DOING MOST?
THAT’S A TOUGH ONE
STRENGTHS FOR INDIVIDUALS
Strengths coaching is all about the positive. No longer do we try to work on competencies which may be lacking and get better at our weaknesses, that just limits failure. Instead we harness the power of our strengths to motivate, engage and energise all areas of life and limit the risks of the weaknesses.
Working using your strengths makes it easy to understand how to refocus yourself to do more of what you love but still get the frustrating jobs done. It helps develops an understanding, and a tolerance of those who choose to work in different ways. I love nothing more than to witness in someone else the light bulb moment of understanding as to why some things seem like such hard work when others are a breeze. To then take that and run with it – is a gift.
TEAM STRENGTHS COACHING
You’ve read about individual coaching, well when applied to a team the impact is super charged. Already armed with all the benefits of understanding your own strengths when you understand those your colleagues you appreciate why they are brilliant at something you find hard. You understand why when you present an idea they might dismiss it as ridiculous and you understand why when you are giddy with excitement for a new project they might be reluctant to join in. You understand how to understand them! Once you appreciate the impact of different strengths on how people communicate, build relationships, approach a problem and get a job done you can respect that, and use it. So where once someone’s picky obsession with the detail would have driven me mad I now use it as my safety net.
On their own the strengths are powerful but when you start to combine them, especially within a team situation then you become formidable. Why wouldn’t you want to tap into courage, resilience, optimism and critical thinking when the times get challenging or empathy, compassion, emotional control and common sense if that’s what’s needed. Going from frustrating repetitive disagreement, lacking in trust to constructive discussion, debate and decision making – feels like magic happened.
BUILD A BAND TEAM DAY
When Boris said he thought he was at a “work event”, he must of been at one of our build a band teambuilding days! It has been described as the best day of your working life and not just by us. We unleash your inner rock star, help you write, record and perform an anthem fit for the Queen’s jubilee celebrations. The power of music is well documented and this day makes the most of all of the benefits with a sprinkling of team coaching added in. Whilst the thought of the day will polarise opinion. We love seeing everyone and I mean everyone go from abject fear to pure joy. Seeing everyone leave on massive high is such a privilege.
WISHING YOU ALL THE VERY BEST FOR 2022
Whatever you have planned for the year ahead, we would like to wish you all the very best. We hope your year is not only successful but most of all filled with joy, happiness and good health.
Best wishes from all of us here at Threedom Solutions.
